PLA and ALSC's Preschool Literacy Initiative (American
Library Association)
http://www.ala.org/ala/alsc/ECRR/ECRRHomePage.htm
A model research-based program enlists parents
and caregivers as partners in preparing their children for learning to
read and provides the most effective methods to achieve this end. The
unique structure focuses on the distinctive phases of a young child’s
emergent literacy – pretalkers, talkers and pre-readers.

Wee Talk (Preschool Speech and Language Services)
http://www.weetalk.net/learn.htm
Understanding spoken language and speaking
are the first steps toward literacy. Speech and language pathologists
provide developmentally appropriate information about how babies and young
children learn to talk and what parents and caregivers can do to help
their children learn to use language.
