Beach Center on Families and Disability

Concentrates on families and disability, specifically
on improving the functioning of families who have members with disabilities.
Provides undergraduate and graduate courses each semester in Family
Studies and Disability, including distance learning. In the News to
Use section of this site there is information for families and educators
on legal, policy, social and medical disability issues.
C.H.A.D.D. Parenting a Child with Attention Deficit Disorder

A nonprofit parent-based organization formed to
better the lives of individuals with attention deficit disorders and those
who care for them. This searchable site contains, in addition to AD/HD
fact sheets, and legislative updates, a section on CHADD's position on
school discipline issues for children with AD/HD.
Children, Youth and Families Education and Research Network

CYFERNet is a national network of Land Grant university
faculty and county extension educators working to support community-based
educational programs for children, youth, parents and families. Through
CYFERNet, partnering institutions merge resources into a “national
network of expertise,” working collaboratively to assist communities.
Contains practical, research-based information on a variety of topics,
including material on family child care. As part of USDA's Children, Youth
and Families at Risk Program, CYFERNet is committed to the vision that:children
will have their basic physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs
met. Their Human Resource Database helps to facilitate networking, collaboration
and technical assistance among the children, youth and family programs

Families and Advocates Partnership for Education (FAPE)

A partnership of parent and advocacy organizations
form the Families and Advocates Partnership for Education (FAPE) to deliver
consistent, accurate and timely information on IDEA to families, self-advocates,
and advocates nationwide. The project will disseminate promising practices
and research findings.
Family Village

The Family Village Project at the Waisman Center
integrates information, resources, and communication opportunities on
the Internet for persons with cognitive and other disabilities, for their
families, and for those that provide them services and support. It includes
information on specific diagnoses, communication connections, adaptive
products and technology, adaptive recreational activities, education,
worship, health issues, disability-related media and literature, and much
more.
Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health

National parent-run organization focusing on the
mental health needs of children and youth and their families, encouraging
family participation and support in systems of care. Contains listing
of available publications, legislative updates, information on managed

National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice

Provides technical assistance, staff training,
research/evaluation, and information on family-based programs in a number

Parenting Tips for Better Sleep

better nighttime sleep. It was developed by by Dr. Henry L. Shapiro, a
physician at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. He cares
for many children with sleep problems as well as other developmental and

have emotional/ behavioral disorders through research and training programs
encouraging family participation in services and policy development. Web site

conferences. Contains the Web site of the National Clearinghouse on Family

publications. Provides useful glossary of children's mental health terms,
laws and regulations, and research terms.

Technical Assistance Alliance for Parent Training and Information
Centers and Community Groups in the United States

This site is created by an alliance that establishes
collaborative relationships with national clearinghouses, regional resource
centers, and national dissemination projects concerned with the education
of youth with disabilities (e.g. NICHCY, ERIC, assistive technology projects)
identifies strategies for working with parents, families, teachers, and
schools. This searchable site contains a database, a parent center directory,
a calendar of upcoming conferences and information about legislative initiatives.
