| Fall 1996 | Vol. I, Issue No. 60 |
Effective January 1, 1996, a CDA is expected to:
During the first year of the new renewal system, the Council will consider requests for waiver of the training criteria and the waiver committee will expect alternative documentation of training to accompany the waiver request. The waiver committee will not consider requests without supporting documents. (The new renewal process does not affect Home Visitor Associates who will continue to use the previous renewal system that requires self appraisal and two renewal reviews.)
The CDA credential is valid for three years, after which it may be renewed for five-year periods. CDAs who have never renewed will be given a two-year period of time (beginning January 1, 1996, through January 1, 1998) to renew their credential. CDAs who do not renew by January 1, 1998, will have to complete a new assessment.
