The Head Start Bulletin is published six times a year
by the Head Start Bureau, Administration on Children, Youth and Families,
Department of Health and Human Services. The Bulletin is a service of
the Head Start Bureau's Training and Technical Assistance Branch.
Its purpose is to enhance communication among the Head Start Bureau,
Head Start programs, and interested national, regional,
and state organizations and agencies.

Our Guest Editor
Judy David began her career in early childhood education as a Head Start
teacher and supervisor. Judy has taught Associate of Arts classes in
Early Childhood Education and Child Development to Head Start staff,
and has written extensively for parents and teachers. She has co-authored
books, including The Preschool Years: Family Strategies that Work From
Experts and Parents,by Ellen Galinsky and Judy David (NY: Ballantine
Books, 1991) and The Bank Street Curriculum Guide, edited by Anne Mitchell
and Judy David (Beltsville, MD: Gryphon House, 1992). Judy has conducted
evaluations for early childhood programs and has been on the graduate
faculty at Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts, and Bank Street
College in New York City. She has also consulted with early childhood
and primary school programs in the United States and Eastern Europe.
